Israel Visit 22 November 2005

After running into a group at breakfast from Pickens and Easley who were also visiting the area, we drove up into the Golan, through Katzrin, around the Kinneret and South to Jerusalem.

From up on the Golan Heights, it is very obvious why Israel need so desperately to take control of the area from Syria, who was lobbing shells down on the coast before 1967. Large areas of greenhouses house fruits and vegetables, including several under red shade cloths.

The Northern shore on the right is the area where Yeshua ministered, in Capernaum, Bethsaida, etc.

Based on a pointer from Eyal of Ezuz, we located in Qatzrin Dodi Ben-Ami who recreates stone tools as used pre-iron age, concentrating on use of tools to make them similar to those used originally. He demonstrated several simple techniques to us, including making of rouge, sickle blades and very sharp knife blades -- all from flint. Arrowheads

We made it into Jerusalem before dark, visited a few minutes with Moshe and Dov, ate supper of humus, falafel and pita, and visited the Kotel (Western wall). Kotel at night
I would like to have seen this the next morning, but didn't. I include it here simply for its beauty. It was forwarded to me a few days before leaving the US by Jack DeLowe. Kotel at sunrise
